Not only do water filters make a huge impact on your families health by eliminating the toxins found in tap water, creating safe drinking water for all, but it also eliminates the discoloration and odor so often associated the tap water taste great!

Doctor’s recommend eight eight once glasses of water each day to stay fully hydrated. As the temperature is on a steady climb upward it’s more important than ever to remain hydrated!

In case you missed the segment here are thoughts to remember from the Phoenix Pipeline Plumber:

Water, whether you drink from your faucet, your fridge or a pre-packaged bottle is not what it used to be. We as consumers can tell by key factors like taste, smell and even appearance.

A recent article by Readers Digest released what is truly in our tap water. “60,000 chemicals are used across the country—and can get into our drinking water—though the EPA enforces limits on fewer than 100.” Out of what was found, some could be expected like animal waste and pesticides especially around smaller, rural towns. Others, like medical waste, arsenic and rocket fuel were a bit more of a shock. The largest shock was how much was slipping through the checks and straight into our homes..

Benjamin Franklin,The Punctual Plumber is also offering $59 off any water treatment during the month of May to help homeowners water last great.

When Kathie and James Wagner heard that Benjamin Franklin Plumbing was looking to help a local family in need with plumbing repairs, they immediately nominated Kathie’s mother Joan Kelly. Joan, who lived modestly on very limited income, was unable to afford the plumbing repairs that desperately needed to happen in her Chandler, Arizona home. Upon hearing of Joan Kelly’s predicament, Linda Stanfield and her team at Benjamin Franklin Plumbing came to the rescue.

“In March we celebrated World Plumbing Day by asking Valley residents to nominate someone they knew that was in need of plumbing repairs but simply could not afford them,” said Linda Stanfield, owner of Benjamin Franklin, The Punctual Plumber. “We received several nominations for deserving families, but ultimately we chose Joan Kelly of Chandler AZ.”

Joan Kelly had been dealing with plumbing issues since 2008 when her home burnt down and had to be rebuilt by insurance.

Kelly was thrilled to learn that she had been nominated and ultimately won. Unfortunately, at 82 years old Kelly passed away in April before the work could be completed.

“Benjamin Franklin Plumbing’s help has meant a great deal to our family,” said James Wagner. “My mother in law’s home was facing severe plumbing issues and we just didn’t know where to start.”

Wagner and his wife plan to buy Kelly’s home for their grandson so that he can afford to finish his degree at Chandler Gilbert Community College.

“When I saw the announcement from Benjamin Franklin, The Punctual Plumber in their monthly newsletter I knew I had to nominate my mom,” said Kathie Wagner. “Times are tough and my mom was 82 on a fixed income and couldn’t afford the repairs needed. We’re so grateful for the help that has been extended to us on behalf of our mother.”

Benjamin Franklin, The Punctual Plumber went to Kelly’s home on May 10th, 2012 to diagnose and treat her plumbing issues. Plumber Brandon Dugan spent the morning with James cleaning out Kelly’s pipes and developing a treatment plan for the repairs needed.

“I’m honored to have played a small role in helping this family during their time of need,” said Dugan.

“Being able to do this, right near Mother’s Day, to honor the wonderful mother that Joan Kelly was, made it extremely gratifying for all of us at Ben Franklin,” added Linda Stanfield.

Pat McMahon talks plumbing repairs and up to date plumbing repair information each month with Linda Stanfield.

The average American household uses 293 gallons of water daily – 95 percent of which literally goes down the drain – while the average African household uses only 5 gallons daily, and people in other parts of the world get by on even less than that.

Many people in the world exist on 3 gallons of water per day or less. We can use that amount in one flush of the toilet. Leaky faucets that drip at the rate of one drop per second can waste up to 2,700 gallons of water each year.

In case you missed the segment, Pat McMahon shared how important fixing small plumbing repairs are to preventing extra costs and damage.

Here are Linda’s top three tips she reviewed with Pat McMahon:

1. Put food coloring in your toilet tank. If it seeps into the toilet bowl without flushing, you have a leak. Fixing it can save up to 1,000 gallons a month.

2. Install a water-efficient dishwasher; it will use as little as 4 gallons per wash cycle, whereas some older models use up to 13 gallons per cycle.

3. If a home has a really old shower head from more than 7 years ago, try replacing it with a low flow shower head to lessen the water usage while maintaining the full spray action regardless of the water pressure. This move can actually save homeowners up to 7.5 gallons of water per minute.

If you find any leaking around your home, no plumbing repair is too small, we can help you save water quickly.

Benjamin Franklin,The Punctual Plumber is also offering $59 off any leak repair during the month of April to help homeowners conserve water and help the earth. Don’t forget to mention this post when booking your appointment this month at 602-485-1111.

Look for more great plumbing help next month with Pat McMahon.
