Tankless Water Heater
Do you need a tankless water heater?
Tankless water heaters are definitely here to stay. They became popular with homeowners in the Phoenix area by the late 1990’s. You may hear people say that they don’t work for them or don’t work on their particular home. The truth is, when they are properly installed and are maintained every year, tankless water heaters work great. They also last up to three times longer than a standard tank style water heater.
Tankless water heaters are available for gas, electric or propane energy use. Tankless won’t always offer faster hot water at the faucet because the water still has to travel the distance in the pipe to the faucet. The right recirculation pump can help it travel faster, though. Water does actually heat up quickly at the heater and eliminates the need to store water in a traditional tank.
There are several benefits to owning a tankless water heater. Tankless water heaters only heat up water when a hot water tap is opened up. They also save on space. Tank-style water heaters waste energy because they heat the water around the clock, even if you don’t need it.
Who needs a tankless water heater? They are good for large families who run the risk of running out of hot water. Since the hot water is given on demand, they’re also good for people who don’t use a lot of hot water, who are often gone from home or who live alone.
There is one more important fact to know. Because tankless water heaters heat water up so fast and have so many components inside, it is imperative to have a good water softener installed so the hard water doesn’t ruin the tankless water heater.
